At Delmarva Physical Therapy you are more than just a number. An emphasis on long treatment times, entirely by a physical therapist, provides a focus on quality not quantity. Experience the difference of comprehensive care and a true 1-on-1 approach.
A weekend warrior
A parent that wants to get back to work
A grandparent that wants to lift his or her grandchild
Each patient is different and a personal rehab approach means individualized treatment plans and patient-centered goals.
Manual therapy techniques are skilled hand movements and skilled passive movements of joints and soft tissue that are intended to improve tissue extensibility; increase range of motion; induce relaxation; mobilize or manipulate soft tissue and joints; modulate pain; and reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation, or restriction. Techniques may include manual lymphatic drainage, manual traction, massage, mobilization/manipulation, and passive range of motion (APTA)
Our body is full of compensations. For example...
- Weak hip muscles can cause poor alignment of the knee when running or walking and result in knee pain.
- Weak rotator cuff muscles can cause over elevation of the glenohumeral joint (a joint in the shoulder) resulting in an intense sharp, pinching sensation during overhead movements.
- Limited core muscle strength can cause too much movement of the vertebrae around the lumbar spine resulting in limited nerve conduction and numbness or weakness in the legs.
At Delmarva PT we use a specific, research-based exercise program to target the problem, not just the pain source, for long term results.
We will work with your surgeon to develop a patient-specific protocol for safe and timely rehab results.
